Under Floor Wiring

The hot end of a glass factory is hot, congested, and sometimes has hot glass on the floor. Deciding on the best routing for wiring is sometimes difficult. Under floor conduit runs seem to offer the most protection for the wires until it is necessary to bring the conductors through the floor to make connections.

A single piece of rigid conduit will provide mechanical protection for the wires, however hot bottles that may sometimes pile up around the conduit will probably melt the insulation causing the conductors to short. High temperature wire will address this problem, but it could be expensive and it is not always readily available.

Placing the wiring conduits inside of a larger conduit as shown in the diagram will maintain an air gap between the hot ware and the inner conductors.
